This holiday season we bring together six unique faces for the celebration we’re all hoping we can have. Scouted through a social media casting call, they all have fearless self-expression in common. Sharing their personal take on beauty and the festive season for a spot in the campaign, each individual has a compelling story to tell…

For project manager Tabitha (@tabithamary_), being South Asian meant that colourism had a very real impact on the lens through which she viewed beauty. From welcoming her summer glow to letting her eyebrows grow to her fullest, Tabitha says learning to love herself has been transformative and she wants others to feel the same power.

I entered the Find Me Unique competition because…

Learning to love and embrace my features (especially the things I once didn’t like about myself) was the best decision I ever made and I really want to share that message with others.

I grew up in a small city in Germany where I never really felt represented or saw anybody that looked like me, both around me and in the media - like in advertising, movies, magazines, so representation is really important to me. Being South Asian also meant that I experienced colourism from a young age, which really had an effect on my self esteem & self confidence but it’s the reason I'm so passionate about sharing my experience and helping others ‘unlearn’ these ideals.

For me, unique beauty is about...

Being able to love and embrace your true self - both inside and out. Imperfections and all and most of all scrapping the idea of beauty standards as a whole. There shouldn’t be any rules or guidelines to how beauty should be defined.

I embrace my unique look by...

Loving the skin complexion that I once disliked so much. I also naturally have very thick brows, which I used to over pluck so badly, but now they’re one of my favourite features - I even embrace my monobrow.

If I could speak to my younger self…

I would say: 'be patient, take the time to know yourself and embrace who you are.'

My favourite words to live by…

I know this is cliché, but I often need to remind myself (and others) that life is too short and the world is your oyster. There are so many wonderful reasons to be grateful for life and nothing is out of reach.

My Christmas is unique because...

I grew up in Germany so we actually celebrate it on the 24th. Moving to the UK meant that we would essentially have two celebrations on the 24th and 25th.

Top of my Christmas list this year is…

To spend more time with family, friends and also myself. When you’re always working, it’s easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of life. I think it’s important to take time to rest and recharge.

In 2022, I’m most looking forward to...

More holidaying. I really love travelling, more parties, more enjoyment and just experiencing other places.
