An Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) derived from apples, Malic Acid is one of the gentler acids out there. Like other AHAs, it exfoliates the outer layer of skin, but what sets Malic Acid apart is its size - it's a larger molecule compared to Glycolic and Lactic Acid. This means that it's not able to penetrate as deeply and so it's gentler on sensitive skin types. Another benefit? It's a humectant, so it's able to attract moisture and lock it in the skin.
