Works but went rancid.
It works well on my skin, however, it went rancid really fast. I can't even use it anymore and it's about half full or more. I see your explanation to the reviewer below me, about not using masking or fragrance, which is great, one of the reasons I love drunk elephant!
But this is different. Rancid oil has a distinct smell and I'm smelling that here. Too bad because my spots are lighter and my face looks smooth. I would like to try the regular retinol cream.

Good for super dry skin
Myself, I was not a huge fan of this product and I love everything Drunk Elephant. It is very greasy on my face and I feel like it clogs my pores. Since I had high expectations, I purchased a large bottle. I dont want to waste it so I add alittle to my body lotion and it does seem to help with summertime dryness.

Good but not great
This is, in my opinion, an unconventional way to get your retinol. You are going to need to like face oils to like this. There are to many other ways to get retinol that are gentle so if oils are not your thing, this is going to be a big Nope. That being said, DE does recommend mixing so if you use Lala for example, you can mix but it still has that thicker oily feel. I’ve been using this for about one month. I’d say it’s on par with most basic retinols and not really special. It’s an interesting concept in an oil and not bad. Good for mixing and does do what a retinol is supposed to do but without irritation.

Brown Skin & Sensitive Skin Match
I bought this months ago as a sample and I’m in love. Being brown skin with sensitive skin, I also try to find the perfect product for me. I was skeptical about trying retinol in my face but this work wonders. When I stopped using it for a while I did see the difference without it being in my skincare routine so I bought more. I’m not sure why some people don’t like the smell. It doesn’t bother me at all I mix it with TLC and topped it with F-Balm and it’s amazing on my skin. People have to remember not all product work well for everyone.

Great for dry, sensitive skin
This is one of the few retinol products that doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin! It’s also super hydrating and can be used as a daily moisturizer

Hate it!
Definitely not for me! I was so excited to use this after seeing many positive reviews on other sites. However, I was left greatly underwhelmed by the lack of reduction of my dark spots. I also disliked the thickness of the oil. It felt like I had Vaseline on my face, as the oil never fully absorbed. It was gross, but I still gave it a fair shot.
For reference, I did give this a solid try for 8 weeks with no visible signs of improvement.

Not as advertised
This product is marketed as being marula oil + retinol and ceramides, but having used it, I can confirm what other reviewers are saying: it smells like cooking oil and does not behave at all like marula oil. It sits on the surface of your skin and doesn't feel good. And yes, the smell although faint is reminiscent of canola and at first I thought it had gone rancid. I believe that the amount of soy oil that they cut this product with makes it a poor product compared to their (excellent) marula oil.

Gentle and effective
This product is a powerhouse miracle worker. Its a gentle and effective retinol oil, that helps reduce blemishes and hyperpigmentation. I've been using this product for a few months, and since then I've noticed my blemishes heal faster, and my dark spots have faded. The oil is lightweight, and doesn't feel greasy on my skin either. I would absolutely recommend this product.
