What we say Actives, retinol, retinoids, concentration, 2%, terms that can be quite intimidating. We've got you! The Ordinary landed in the beauty world last year with a simple approach and ground-breaking formulas. Next-generation retinoid active technologies have been shown to achieve better reduction in signs of ageing than retinol all without irritation. The Advanced Retinoid 2% inparticular can to be applied to the face as part of your regular skincare regime. PLUS, it is Alcohol-free, oil-free, silicone-free, nut-free, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free and cruelty-free.
The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% - a stable emulsion of next-generation forms of retinoid. This formulation combines two forms of next-generation retinoid actives in a combined concentration of 2% by weight. These two actives are: - Solubilized Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate is a highly-advanced form of retinoid which is, in fact, a non-prescription ester of all-trans direct retinoic acid that offers a multi-fold better effect against signs of ageing than retinol, retinyl palmitate and nearly all other forms of non-prescription retinoid; - A sustained-delivery form of pure retinol in a protective capsule system which supports both the delivery and the effect of Solubilized Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate. Both forms of retinoid used avoid the irritation associated with retinoid (including retinol) use while delivering better visible results against signs of ageing. Alcohol-free, nut-free, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this! This is the only type of vitamin A that I can tolerate on my skin and I use it every other night. It’s been about six weeks and I am seeing positive results. I hope this will always be available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for sensitive skin I am very new to retinol/retinoids and I was very apprehensive about trying it because I have sensitive skin that almost always breaks out or does not respond well to many skincare products. I thought this would be harsh and strip and thin my skin, but it hasn’t. My skin loves the feel of the creamy formula, it feels so hydrating. I’m already seeing my skin look healthier after using it for a few days. I think if you are a new retinol user like myself or have sensitive, hormonal acne prone skin, this might be the best Retinoid product to start with. Thank you The Ordinary for great quality, affordable products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from brighter, glower skin in 6wks (5% now please!!) started looking after my skin beyond cleanse-exf-moisturise late last year. been trying to work out what works and what doesn't. added granactive retinoid 2% emulsion to my regime about 6 weeks ago. i feel like it's already fast tracked taking back the hyperpigmentation from sun that i've been fighting with alpha-arbutin. also feel like my skin is glowy? i feel a bit wanky talking like this but yea i like this stuff. hoping that with time it will help with the fine lines. also my skin is super sensitive and prone to redness if it doesn't like the way you looked at it but this stuff has not made it bark. came here basically to add to the people begging for a 5% granactive retinoid emulsion!! please!!

Hi there, can I use this to treat new stretch marks? thanks!

Asked by: sarah
Hi, Thanks for reaching out to us. Personally, I wouldn't recommend using this on your stretch marks as you won't gain much benefit, however using Rose Hip Oil/Rose Hip Seed Oil on stretchmarks (new and old) has been proven to reduce and improve the appearance of them. Take a look at The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 30ml, which is designed for use on the face and if you like the sound of it, please contact us on beautyexperts@feelunique.com so we can help you with finding some rose hip seed oil for use on the body. I hope this helps! Thanks, Chloe - Beauty Expert

hello, i have very deep lines under my eye even though i'm only 24!!! can i use this under eye to treat these lines?

Asked by: Yi-Hsuan
Hi, The Ordinary Advanced Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion 30ml shoud never be used around the eye area as it contains retinoids. You should never put retinoids/ retinol near the eyes as this is a concentrated form of vitamin c. Vitamin c is a natural and potent exfoliant and the skin around your eyes is very delicate and thin. Another otpion is NUXE Contour Des Yeux Prodigieux Anti-Fatigue Moisturizing Eye Cream, it hydrates, revives and fights against signs of ageing by protecting the skin from oxidative stress caused by daily aggression. Thanks Katie, Beauty Expert.

Hi what’s the difference between the ordinary retinol 1% in squalane and the granactive retinoid is the retinoid means retinol ? Thanks

Asked by: Nadia
Hi, Retinol contains a lower concentration than retinoid, if you have sensitive skin, I would recommend a retinoid as it can be less irritating. If you'd like to know the difference between the ordinary retinol 1% in squalane and the granactive retinoid, please could you email us at beautyexperts@feelunique.com with the full name of the granactive retinoid as there are quite a few granactive retinoid's from the Ordinary. Thanks, Jess - Beauty Expert

Does this help with facial scarring e.g. acne scars?

Asked by: Lynn
Hi, The Ordinary Advanced Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion is really recommended for anti aging. However, it has additional benefits, when spread on the skin, retinoids can unclog pores, allowing other medicated creams and gels to work better. They also reduce acne outbreaks by preventing dead cells from clogging pores. Retinoid helps with cell renewal which can reduce the visibility of scars. When using a retinoid, we always recommend applying in the evening, and introduce gradually 3 times a week. Always use an SPF during the day. The Ordinary do offer lots of products to help with acne scars, please contact us on Beautyexperts@feelunique.com for the details of these and how to use them! Thanks, Lydia - Beauty Expert
